The film Crash was the artifact containing complex information that was assigned to me. My task was to become so intimately familiar with the film that I could visually explain its information space - by way of visualizing its content, structure and navigation. The film Crash eschews a singular linear plot line with few main characters and instead, weaves together multiple interlocking stories with many characters. At the forefront is the question of race and ethnic divisions and how people's assumptions and prejudices prevent them from seeing the actual person in front of them.

My visualization piece borrows from the visual language of the film and employs the image of car headlights to show the interactions that take place throughout the film. Much like the film which is largely experiential, a mixed soundtrack allows the audience to hear and feel the essence of the film Crash and its messages. The end of my piece sees the coming together of the images to convey our shared humanity and call awareness to our own assumptions, prejudices and resentments.
