In designing an information explorer for Kiva.org, I wanted to provide a way for people to explore and experience the data in a way that is not only informative but also brings awareness to our shared humanity. Kiva.org is a website that allows people to lend to entrepreneurs in developing countries, empowering these entrepreneurs to lift themselves out of poverty. But more importantly, behind each loan is a story and with each story comes a human connection as similarities are identified. Kiva connects people and changes lives.

Each loan is represented by a picture of the individual behind the loan; the percentage fundraised is reflected in the portion revealed. With each contribution, their picture, much like their dream, is another step closer to completion.
